Eco-friendly boating

Eco-friendly boating reduces environmental impact

Being outdoors has a positive effect on both our mental and physical health. Outdoor activities and being outdoors are also an essential part of our leisure time and our Nordic lifestyle. It is each of us's responsibility to ensure that we keep our environment clean, whether we are in the forest or on the water.

Boating has a negative impact on the environment in many ways, and it is the responsibility of every boater to do their part to reduce the impact it has on the environment. Boating has a negative impact on the environment mainly in the following ways: wastewater eutrophicates waterways, toxins from antifouling paints pollute nature, boating causes noise pollution, exhaust emissions from boat engines pollute, boaters littering nature, careless behavior by boaters in nature reserves or disturbing bird nesting, and changes in the bottom of seas or lakes caused by anchoring.

The challenge for the boat industry is to develop environmentally friendly materials for boat manufacturing as well as energy-efficient boats that are able to produce the energy they consume themselves and using environmentally friendly methods.

Eco-friendly boating means making the best choices for the environment whenever possible.

Every boater can do their part to promote environmentally friendly boating.

A few tips that every boater can do their part to reduce the environmental damage caused by boating:

Do not empty toilet waste into the water: the boat's septic tank should only be emptied into the suction and emptying station at the boat station, because wastewater discharged into waterways pollutes and burdens waterways. Emptying toilet waste into water is also prohibited by law, as it causes eutrophication of waterways, increases algae blooms and causes changes in fish populations.

Reduce waste, collect trash and recycle. It is worth trying to reduce the amount of waste even before you go out on the water by reducing the amount of trash that comes with food packaging, avoiding disposable cutlery and sorting waste into the appropriate waste containers both on the boat and on land. If you notice trash on the beaches or in nature, it is worth collecting it and sorting it into the appropriate waste containers. Plastic waste is very harmful to nature and animals in many ways.

It is advisable to use only non-toxic boat paints for the bottom of the boat or not to use anti-fouling paints at all. A good option is, for example, to lift the boat to the Alutrack boatyard and remove the fouling by washing the bottom of the boat by hand with water. Often, washing the bottom of the boat a few times during the season is enough to prevent fouling and other organisms and keep them away. It is also advisable to lift the boat up when it is not in use.

It is worth paying attention to all the detergents on the boat and their use. Dishes should not be washed directly in water, but the washing water should be poured onto the ground so that the soil layers can filter it. It is also worth preferring natural fibers in clothing and all materials that come into the boat when possible. Microplastics are released from synthetic fiber clothing during washing, which are transported to the environment. It is worth investing in durability and quality in all boating-related products. The boat docks we manufacture and sell are 100% domestic and are manufactured in Nokia. The material of the docks is aluminum, which does not rust and is practically infinitely recyclable. Alutrack docks are intended for recreational boats weighing a maximum of approx. 3000 kg. The docks are installed on your own home or cottage shore.

Suitable for light boats and personal watercraft

Laivakuvake

The lightweight dock is well suited for slightly smaller boats (approx. 5 m) with a total weight of less than 900 kg. The dock itself is easy and lightweight to install. The dock is available with both a manual and electric winch.

Asennuskuvake

The dock is most often built from 2.35 m modules. If necessary, 5 m long rails can be combined with 2.35 m rails to make the dock length suitable for your shore. With a standard winch, the dock length can be a maximum of 30 m.

Our docks are suitable for every boater, and our selling points can be summarized as follows:

Suojauskuvake

The dock keeps the bottom of the boat from being constantly submerged in water, so it stays clean and in good condition for longer. The bottom is easy to clean. The boat is also protected from storms and fluctuations in water level.

Our docks are 100% made in Finland. Our winches are made in the USA and, for example, the Eljo remote control and sled wheels in Germany. The fasteners, axles, etc. we use are made of acid-resistant steel. Our material selection is top quality and long-lasting from start to finish, so the dock will last from father to son.
